21st Century Websites
In the 21st Century the internet was fairly primitive and dominated by the large and powerful media corporations subsidised and promoted by the leaders of the ancient factions which vied for power over the people of the present day earth.
The internet, starting off as a good idea in the late 20th Century, by the 21st Century, it had turned into another brainwashing tool like the radio and television networks which had preceded it, but unlike it's predecessors, the 21st Century internet was used as means to spy on the enslaved people of the present day to make sure they were not consuming content which could in any way interfere in what the faction leaders assumed as their right to we weild power over those they considered to be inferior to them.
Alternative Websites
Some of the people in the 21st Century got together to create internet sites and services which provided an alternative to the content ultimately being controlled by the faction leaders. These websites were tarred and feathered by the enforcers of the faction leaders and often had content which expressed views which were diametrically opposed to the narratives being shown to the masses on the internet sites that the enforcers expressed their approval of.
Many of the present day people, unaware they were undergoing brainwashing since the day they were born, looked toward the freedom of expression of the enforcer class and assumed that even their own freedom of expression existed until they came across these sites and witnessed for themself what happened when they attempted to convey information which was inconvenient to the only narrative which people were permitted the freedom to express. These websites became known to the brainwahsed as "the black web" and their creators became known as "The Conspiracy Theorists".
I am sure many of you from the 28th Century will find this kind of content to be unusual, bizarre, speculative and filled with misinformative about what happens in the future but bear in mind that in the 21st Century, the people are primitive and the information on the websites on this page are the best information the people of the present day earth have to go by.

Our readership may be interested in the kinds of lies and superstitions that the people of the present day earth would gossip about, not realising that the real world was not the world on their screens but everything else that existed outside of those screens.
Idle gossip about things no one could do anything about was industrially manufactured by the newspapers of the late 19th Century, the radio stations of the early 20th century and the television era of the late 20th Century. By the 21st Century, idle gossip was industrially manufactured by large and powerful media corporations using psychological warfare tactics to keep the enslaved people of the present day earth in a permanent state of obedience to the faction leaders and their enforcers.
Many websites, in order to achieve notoriety, simply rebranded the content of the media corporations and engaged in self-censorship to the extent that even though there were lots of websites, most of the internet in the 21st Century had no original content, except the speculation and regurgitation of the content of the big media corporations, which were ultimately controlled by the various faction leaders.

The European Union's propaganda arm based in the east atlantic island of Britain which was itself the heart of a huge empire until it's pyrrhic victory against the fascists of the 20th Century. By the 21st Century. the British Empire is no more and what remained of its propaganda ministry had been hollowed out and replaced by those loyal to the faction leaders of the European Union.

CNN came to the attention of time travellers during the Vietnam War of the 20th Century when it became apparent CNN had managed to acquire an insta-trans matter transported by some means when some of its trustworthy journalists were able to be both in Vietnam and in TV studios in New York at the same time. Some claim the insta-trans acquistion story is a conspiracy theory claiming that the news reporters were not as trustworthy as the people of the present day earth believe.

More commonly known as TASS. The Soviet Union perished as an international legal entity in the late 20th Century but its faction leaders and their enforcers continue to control much of the same people in much of the same territory in the 21st Century and TASS is the propaganda wing of their faction leaders.

By the 21st Century, the faction leaders of China have turned around the fortunes of the Chinese people from their third world poverty of the late 20th Century into the third space faring faction of earths history. Xinhua is the propaganda wing of the Chinese faction leaders and it does not permit discussion that there are people in China whose lives have certainly changed, but they are no better off than they once were living in the same poverty that no one anywhere else realises they are living in because they think the real world is happening on their screens.

Being from the 28th Century, you will find 21st Century to be rather primitive and barbaric with the strong overpowering the weak. While the internet started as a good idea in the late 20th Century, a combination of greed for power and the sheer terror of the faction leaders that ordinary people could at last just talk to one another meant that the internet as you and I know it, was almost entirely destroyed.
The original search engines were the first to go as faction leaders united with one another to dominate and control the internet by heavily investing in the website Google. Within a short time people stopped using other search engines and the original search engines began just regurgitating the results that they themself would seek from Google.
Before long, the various chat rooms and internet forums which had come to exist slowly died as undercover enforcers of the faction leaders invaded the websites causing flame wars and engineering chaos to the extent that people turned toward the social media platforms which were being heavily advertised on the propaganda networks of the faction leaders.
These social networks changed the nature of early 3rd millenium malware into something that could happen by visiting a website where the faction leaders had deployed industrial mechanisms of espionage against people across the world in the 21st Century while keeping them addicted to conversation about the ... real world ... as ordinary people perceived it ... happening on the screens which had become monopolised by the factions.
The people of the 21st Century would visit social networks and share links to content and hope that they would get to hear a little bell sound which let them know that another human soul somewhere on the internet had liked the link they posted to their social media on the internet of the 21st Century.
